Jonathan, Obasanjo in Fruitful Meeting

Despite the uproar generated by the open letter by former President Olusegun Obasanjo to President Goodluck Jonathan, Vanguard has learnt that the two leaders met Thursday morning in Nairobi, the Kenyan capital.

Vanguard gathered that the breakfast meeting between Obasanjo and Jonathan was held at the luxurious Intercontinental Hotel in Nairobi where Jonathan lodged to attend Kenya’s 50th independence celebrations.Obasanjo was also among African leaders who graced the independence anniversary, as the meeting held prior to the anniversary event at the Safaricom Stadium in Kasarani, Nairobi.
Jonathan and Obasanjo were said to have had a “fruitful discussion” after emerging from the meeting beaming with smiles in a warm handshake in a move to paper over cracks in their strained relationship and sway watchers that there was no acrimony between the two, a source said.
Obasanjo wrote an 18-page letter to President Jonathan in which he accused President Jonathan of ruling as a dictator, training a killer gang, driving the country to the brink by allowing corruption and mutual distrust
