As the transformation in the Agricultural Sector continues under this administration, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in partnership with the National Cereals Research Institute, Badeggi, is to train 100 Nigerian women on rice processing and packaging.
According to Mrs Ibukun Abimbola, Permanent Secretary in the ministry of Agriculture, the training was to ensure food-sufficiency and also tackle unemployment in the country.
Mrs Abimbola was represented by Mrs Karim Babangida, a deputy director in the ministry during an NCRI workshop in Minna.
“This training is particularly important because it is in line with the administration’s effort at addressing the problem of unemployment in the country.
“Under the Agricultural Transformation Agenda, the issues of unemployment, wealth creation and food security are being addressed particularly as they relate to youth and women empowerment,” she said.
